Homemade Tortilla Chips | Easy Clean-up and Oven Baked
When I was about to go into labor I went to the store to get a couple snacks to have. I couldn’t believe that all the chips were cooked in seed oils and have too many ingredients that I couldn’t pronounce. I was so frustrated and motivated to make my own and since I already make my own tortillas I knew it wouldn’t be that hard! These homemade tortilla chips will have you wondering why you ever bought chips in the first place. They are so easy and so cheap to make.
Why Olive Oil?
Canola oil, vegetable oil, and most seed oils are ultra processed making the oil considered toxic for the body. When something is toxic in the body, your body is designed to kick it out. This usually happens through your skin which causes a whole lot of other issues. Switching to olive oil and coconut oil, I believe, is one of the easiest switches and should be one of the first switches to a healthier life! That is why I cook these homemade tortilla chips in olive oil.
What tortillas do you use?
In most brands of tortilla they will have 10-20+ ingredients so I like to use homemade tortillas. They are made with only 3-4 ingredients you probably already have in your house and they are so easy to make. Click in this link to get my recipe!
What can I eat with these homemade tortilla chips?
These homemade tortilla chips pair with so many amazing meals and appetizers but here are some of my favorites:
- Salsa and guacamole dip
- Cowboy caviar dip
- Loaded nachos
- Add salt and vinegar for a fun twist
- Churro chips
- etc.
